The nose is rich and complex, both fresh and deep, opening with notes of apricot marmalade toast. This is followed by fig compote, a touch of amber beer toffee and a gentle, light presence of clove. The whole unfolds on a fine, well-balanced structure of brown sugar, dried oranges and juniper wood. Round, silky and even creamy on the palate, it offers a delicious balance of nectarine and delicate hints of vanilla playing off the brown sugar and caramelised notes, this time a little fruitier. The long, deliciously indulgent finish elegantly blends the return of woodiness with a touch of mace, a few herbal notes and a final appearance of brown sugar, the common thread running through this seductive whisky.
