The history of Chivas began in Aberdeen, Scotland, when James and John Chivas took over a delicatessen, founded in 1801, whose cellars were filled with aged malts which matured slowly.
With the advent of the first, sweeter grain whiskies, the Chivas brothers had the idea of blending malt and grain whiskies to create a whisky with a perfectly balanced taste. The art of blending was born.
This know-how has given rise to the Chivas style: balanced, fruity whiskies made from the Strathisla distillery's toast.
Today, the blending team, supervised by Master Blender Colin Scott, perpetuates the subtle balance of skill and talent that makes Chivas Regal a unique whisky, recognised the world over.
Chivas Regal 25YO was introduced in 1909 as the world's first luxury whisky. Today, this whisky is blended in the same style, as a tribute to the original 1909 masterpiece. Because of Prohibition, this whisky disappeared from the scene. Now, more than a century later, Chivas Regal 25YO is back; a rare and exclusive blend of the finest Scotch whiskies, the youngest of which has matured for at least a quarter of a century.
Nose: fruity aromas of sweet orange and peach, followed by hints of marzipan and walnut. Palate: notes of rich, sweet chocolate, orange and melting creaminess. Finish: supple, round and luxuriously long.
