Craigellachie 17 Year Old is a limited edition from the award-winning Craigellachie distillery. This exclusive single malt whisky finishes its maturation in Palo Cortado casks for over 2 years.
Speyside whiskies are renowned for their fruity flavours and flowery aromas, although this doesn't stop Craigellachie from rebelling with a rich, smoky character.
ANCIENT DRINK IN 1891
Built in the heart of Speyside, the Craigellachie distillery was founded by Charles Doig, a famous distillery architect. When Alfred Barnard, the whisky expert of the time, visited the distillery in 1890, he described Craigellachie as an ‘old-fashioned’ whisky, something that has not changed to this day.
SERPENT CONDENSERS FOR A BOLDER FLAVOUR
Only 16 distilleries (out of 126) in Scotland use serpentine condensers, a traditional process for transferring vapour into liquid form after distillation. These condensers limit contact with the copper, giving the whisky a muscular character.
SINGLE MALT PRIMÉ
Craigellachie only became a single malt in 2014, going from zero to hero. A year later, the 23-year-old Craigellachie won “Best Whisky” at the 2015 World Spirits Competition in San Francisco. In 2017, the 31-year-old Craigellachie surpassed other big names in the industry to win “World's Best Single Malt” at the World Whisky Awards. Quite an achievement for this Speyside enfant terrible.
