Peated to 108.2 PPM and distilled from 100% Scottish barley, then aged in a combination of wine, Bourbon and Cognac casks. This unique trio brings a fascinating richness, resulting in a complex yet extremely elegant single malt.
Octomore 15.2 offers a remarkable comparison with its 15.1 counterpart.
Distilled from the same batch of barley grown in Scotland and also malted to 108.2 PPM, 15.2 uses a powerful combination of wine casks and second-fill Bourbon, with the spirit then matured in first-fill Cognac casks. This unique trio brings a fascinating richness, resulting in a complex yet extremely elegant single malt. Notes of nutmeg, toasted oak and caramel add sweetness to the palate, with Octomore's delicate floral character remaining in the foreground.
The initial maturation in American oak casks, before finishing in French oak casks that have contained Cognac, adds immense complexity. Demonstrating the contribution of oak's finesse to the final spirit, 15.2 is both powerful and elegant, without masking Octomore's delicate floral character. The sweetness of the oak is inescapable on the palate, working beautifully with the spirit's mineral notes and dry peat smoke.
