Aged entirely in Cabernet Sauvignon casks from California, Teeling brings a refreshing experience with this Single Grain, which turns out to be a beautifully amber spirit with lush fruit notes.
Bottlings of Irish Single Grain are very rare, as they are generally used to make blended whiskeys from well-known brands. In recent years, however, grain whiskey has been rediscovered, with its combination of unique ingredients, distilled in column stills to produce an extremely pure, smooth and mellow whiskey.
Ageing in Cabernet Sauvignon casks has added depth to the character of this single grain whiskey made from corn and wheat. The result is a smooth, fruity Irish whiskey (red fruits and grapes) with notes of vanilla, honey and salted butter toffee. In the words of Jack Teeling, co-founder of the Teeling Whiskey Company, ‘if you put a good grain distillate in good casks and enrich it with flavour while emphasising its sweetness, you end up with a good whiskey’.
