The Quincentennial Port Cask Edition commemorates the 500th anniversary of the first circumnavigation of the globe. The rum comes from the Philippine island of Negros and matures there under tropical conditions. It is initially aged for two years in former bourbon barrels before maturing for a further five years in barrels that were previously filled with Ruby Port wine. This barrel ageing gives the rum a full-bodied character with notes of dark fruit, a pleasant sweetness and a fine spiciness. Don Papa Rum is produced and bottled on the island of Negros in the Philippines using molasses from locally grown sugar cane.
