This limited edition of Teeling has been distilled three times at their distillery in Dublin. What makes it unique is that crystal malt has been added to the mash bill of their standard single malt. This whisky was then matured in virgin American oak casks. Crystal malt is created when sugar crystals form during the traditional malting process. This occurs at higher temperatures. The result is pronounced aromas of caramel and toffee in the final whisky. The combination of the unique grain composition, the triple distillation process and the casks in which the whisky is matured makes for a surprising whisky, the likes of which can only be made in Teeling. It is bottled at 46% alcohol and is not chill-filtered.
Nose: green apple, stewed pear, brown sugar, vanilla and light oak.
Palate: an explosion of caramel with apple pie spice, fresh pastry and honeyed sweetness.
Finish: long, luxurious, with cinnamon and toffee.
